International journalists and media partners visited the CTICC as part of a pre-Meetings Africa visit and tour
The CTICC played host to several international journalists and industry partners in the run-up to Meetings Africa 2017 that took place in February.
Meetings Africa takes place annually and players in the African MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conference and Exhibitions) industry gather to showcase what they have to offer the global market. Over 650 buyers were present at the event, which was aimed at providing face-to-face meetings with key decision makers, networking with industry colleagues, introducing stakeholders to new products and services, and updating industry about existing offerings.
Preceding Meetings Africa 2017 in Johannesburg, the CTICC welcomed 15 journalists and industry partners from countries including Nigeria, Spain, Brazil, Germany and Japan.
The journalists were given a guided tour of the CTICC and its facilities as well as an in-depth presentation by Megan Arendse, the CTICC’s Commercial and Business Development General Manager.
Axel Thunig, Publisher of Trade Fairs International, said he was “impressed” with the CTICC.
“I was quite impressed after seeing the CTICC in real life after we wrote some articles… The information presented has been very helpful and I appreciated seeing the venue. The most outstanding was the expansion of your exhibition space because I believe more and more congresses and exhibitions will go hand-in-hand,” said Thunig.
Added Julie-May Ellingson, Chief Executive Officer of the CTICC: “We have had a long-standing relationship with many of the media and industry partners who joined us for the tour of our facility. Being able to host guests who have never experienced the CTICC allows us the opportunity to give them a first-hand understanding of our facility and operations.”
